Empire Consulting, LLC. on-site training seminars are based on proven and validated procedures that identify the drug and alcohol impaired person. The seminars will empower members of your organization with the skills, knowledge and ability to recognize and take appropriate action when encountering the suspected substance abuser in the workplace.
Training seminars educate your employees about the effects and consequences of substance abuse on personal health and safety in the workplace and home. Furthermore, all employees receive information about the manifestations and behavioral signs that may indicate substance abuse.
Management and supervisory personnel receive detailed training about specific signs and symptoms of the drugs of abuse. Additionally, within the standard of "reasonable cause" or "reasonable suspicion", management and supervisory personnel receive practice proven techniques in documenting, assessing and constructively confronting the suspected drug-impaired employee. All training is done on-site.

Terminology
An illicit drug is any chemical or mixture of chemicals not required for the maintenance of health that alters biologic function or structure. The term applies primarily to illegal medications. Abuse is the self-administration of any drug in a manner sufficient to cause adverse consequences to the user. As abuse continues, a pattern of addiction may develop. Addiction is a behavioral pattern characterized by an overwhelming, compulsive involvement with use of a drug and the securing of its supply as well as a high tendency toward relapse after use of the drug is discontinued. Although tolerance, dependence, or both are often present, they are not synonymous with addiction, which is a specific pattern involving a physical and psychological need (craving) for the substance and continual compulsive use despite adverse consequences.
The pleasurable effects of an illicit drug serve as positive reinforcement for the user to continue to self-administer the drug. The neurochemical basis of this reward is thought to be a consequence of the drug's effects on neurotransmission and may involve a common enhancement of dopamine in the central nervous system (CNS).
